NETGEAR® to Present the Ultimate Digital Home Experience at DigitalLife Trade Show in New York City

Latest Innovations in Storage, Entertainment and Secured Wireless Connectivity for Complete “Digital Home Makeover” on Display in Booth #345

NEW YORK — October 14, 2005 — NETGEAR®, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, is showcasing its latest award-winning products for the complete “Digital Home Makeover” at the 2005 DigitalLife Show in New York City, October 14-16. Located in Booth #345, Hall 3E, of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, NETGEAR will demonstrate solutions for both novice and experienced home networking users in the areas of infrastructure, security, entertainment, and storage. NETGEAR has been honored with multiple awards for the innovative technology and stylish design of its products, as well as for customer service and reliability.

“NETGEAR is delighted to demonstrate to customers the complete digital home at DigitalLife,” said Patrick Lo, Chairman and CEO of NETGEAR. “As telecommuting part-time from home is now the norm, people are demanding that the performance of their home network equal that of their office network in terms of speed, ease of use, and security. And as their desire for sharing digital content such as photos, music, games and videos increases, it’s critical to improve their options for file storage and management. NETGEAR’s product offerings are key to securing, maintaining and expanding the digital home network.”

DigitalLife show attendees will have an opportunity to hear Mr. Lo share his vision for the networked home when he participates in a panel discussion about the hottest gifts for the holidays at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, October 14.

Visitors to the NETGEAR booth will be treated to demonstrations of NETGEAR’s newest wireless solutions for connecting devices and for maximizing home network protection, as well as previews of new products planned for release later in the year and early 2006. Divided into four complete networked “rooms,” the booth will highlight products for infrastructure, entertainment, security and storage, such as the new Storage Central (SC101) as well as the industry’s #1 selling MIMO-G products, NETGEAR’s RangeMax™ family of Smart MIMO wireless offerings, which provide extended-range, higher-speed wireless networking.

A “how-to” video will play in the NETGEAR booth, demonstrating one family’s experience with a “digital makeover” of their “digital disaster” of a home, courtesy of NETGEAR. As proof of NETGEAR’s commitment to making the digital home a reality, booth visitors will also have the opportunity to win their own NETGEAR digital home makeover, delivered and installed in their homes, by sharing their personal experiences with disorganized or lost valuable digital content. The makeover includes NETGEAR solutions for wireless networking, storage, gaming and multimedia. A similar contest is open to NETGEAR web site visitors. Details can be found at http://digitalmakeover.netgear.com.

The focus of the booth “storage room” is NETGEAR’s newly released Storage Central (SC101) network data storage device, versatile enough to accommodate any home or small office user’s storage needs. Storage Central offers users an affordable, fail-safe, expandable and easily shared network storage solution for protecting and sharing large volumes of valuable data and content (such as music, games, photos, videos, and office documents) wired or wirelessly over the network. Incorporating the unique and powerful Z-SANTM IP storage technology from Zetera Corporation, Storage Central is the only multi-drive solution in its class offering users spanning and mirroring capabilities. Consumers have the option of choosing two IDE disk drives of any size in their first unit, as well as the capability to link multiple Storage Central units together for unlimited storage capacity.

The “infrastructure room” features NETGEAR’s RangeMax wireless product family with Smart MIMO technology, which eliminates dead spots and enables consumers to go farther wirelessly than they’ve ever gone before. With its unique design and blue LEDs, NETGEAR’s RangeMax Wireless Router (WPN824) has a first-of-its-kind, unique capability to dynamically sense the environment and select from up to 127 possible antenna configurations, eliminating Wi-Fi dead spots and optimizing the wireless connection to each client for the fastest and most stable connection available. A full RangeMax solution with RangeMax wireless adapters can deliver up to 10 times the coverage and speed of standard 802.11g-based solutions.

In the “entertainment room,” visitors will see how people can stream digital movies from the PC to the TV, watch digital photos on the TV, play MP3s on the home stereo, and enjoy unlimited, worldwide Internet radio, all while sharing a media center PCs among multiple users. Featured NETGEAR-branded products in the digital living room include the Wireless Digital Media Player (MP115) as well as upcoming NETGEAR entertainment devices for wirelessly connecting and streaming multimedia content.

The “security room” will offer demonstrations of NETGEAR’s two most recent enhancements of the comprehensive network security provided by its industry-leading line of consumer wireless routers. “Touchless” Wi-Fi security is NETGEAR’s quick, easy-to-use interface for setting up standards-based Wi-Fi network security and connecting to existing secure wireless networks whether at home or on the road. Currently available on the NETGEAR 108 Mbps Wireless Firewall Router (WGT624), “Touchless” Wi-Fi Security is being extended this fall to NETGEAR’s leading RangeMax, Super G™, and 802.11g consumer wireless routers and adapters. Also on display is the latest anti-virus, anti-spam, and anti-spyware protection for the NETGEAR 108 Mbps Wireless Router (WGT624) and the new Super G™ Wireless Router – Security Edition (WGT624SC). By integrating Trend Micro security, NETGEAR is delivering a centrally managed security Dashboard to establish and enforce security policies across the network, protecting all connected PCs from security risks including Trojan horses, viruses, spyware and adware. Network-based Parental Controls also provide unsurpassed protection from objectionable Web sites.

In addition to featuring wireless networking products, the booth will also highlight the capabilities of powerline technology-based products such as NETGEAR’s 54 Mbps Wall-Plugged Wireless Range Extender (WGX102). It can be plugged into any electrical outlet to create an area of wireless access. It enables users to have their wireless network originate from the middle of their home, or from the furthest extremity, with no visible cables. NETGEAR’s newest wall-plugged Ethernet bridge for faster connectivity over powerline will also be on preview.

The DigitalLife show runs through 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 16.
